He Knows My Name by Cheryl Sidler, Ministry Assistant

I was recently reading in John in preparation for Easter and came across John 20:11-18, verse 16 in particular, which stood out in a special way Easter morning.  This is such a tender scene where Mary Magdalene is at the tomb to anoint Jesus’ body. In her tears, she isn’t aware that her Savior is right in front of her until He says, “Mary” … When I read this Easter Sunday morning, it touched my heart like a warm hug.  Jesus knew her name – she was his friend.   There’s something so overwhelming and personal about this.  Jesus knows the name of His friends (John 15:15).

Spend some time in prayer and study as you ponder your relationship with Jesus.  Is it personal?  Do you realize He knows your name? That He calls you friend?  What does that mean to you?  How does that affect you?

I pray that this Easter season was especially personal for each of you.

I have a Maker
He formed my heart
Before even time began
My life was in His hands

He knows my name
He knows my every thought
He sees each tear that falls
And hears me when I call

I have a Father
He calls me His own
He'll never leave me
No matter where I go

He knows my name
He knows my every thought
He sees each tear that falls
And hears me when I call

He knows my name
He knows my every thought
He sees each tear that falls
And hears when I call
