Hey church, let's do a quick review of what the youth have been up to this summer. Here it goes:
Over 100 kids have been to des moines, dunkerton, tennesse, kansas city and california.
We've assisted under privileged kids, refugee families, the local food
bank; we re-roofed homes, poured concrete, demolished old buildings on a
farm, invaded a small iowa town all in the efforts to raise awareness
about suicide, helped grow food and harvest food on a farm to feed the
homeless, battled zombies, served meals, reorganized a warehouse;
sorted, labeled and tried on clothes at a clothes distribution site,
turned an inner city ministry into the wonderful land of Oz, baptized a
youth in the ocean as he was surrounded by his closest friends and
brothers and sisters in Christ, ambushed unknowing college freshman with
buckets of water, remodeled a youth pastor's office by putting his desk
on the roof of his office complex, met over 200 new friends from youth
groups all across iowa, rode on buses for more than 50 hours, rode
roller coasters, sang praise songs in unassuming buildings in the
middle of a city in dire need of God's love, read letters from God that
were written by the hands of our friends and literally washed feet. We
did all this because God loves us and we want everyone to know how
freaking awesome He is and that He loves them too. I would have to say
it was a summer well spent.
