Hello Ridgers,
I got 2 things pokin' at my brain. Number one is the word REMAIN. I read it while on a retreat with the high schoolers (by the way, how often do you take time to get away? I highly recommend it.). It's from John 15:10. Jesus is telling us we need to REMAIN in his love. But how do we do that? Duh! It's in the next phrase... obey my commandments. So now I remember that I need to continue to obey. And I'm not supposed to go running around unattached from him, I'm supposed to REMAIN. I'm in a struggle right now and I want to go just hibernate, quit, and do my own selfish thing. But I can't. Not now. Not after reading that. I need to continue to obey and... remain.
Secondly, is it realistic to think that we can do church the same way the Acts 2 church did it? Was that a time specific example? Was that how church was supposed to work 2000 years ago and God intends it to work differently in 2013? If so, what is it supposed to look like? I'll leave you to answer those questions on your own.
