Fighting Is No Joke

Stop me if you've heard this one...

A couple drove down a country road for several miles, not saying a word. An earlier discussion had led to an argument and neither of them wanted to concede their position. As they passed a barnyard of mules, goats, and pigs, the husband asked sarcastically, "Relatives of yours?" "Yep," the wife replied, "in-laws."

What about this one...

A man and his wife were having an argument about who should brew the coffee each morning. The wife said, "You should do it because you get up first." The husband said, "You're in charge of cooking around here, so you should do it." Wife replies, "No, the Bible says it's the husband's responsibility." Husband replies, "I don't believe that. Prove it." So she fetched the Bible and opened to the New Testament. And sure enough at the top of several pages it said..."HEBREWS".

Jokes about fighting in relationships can be funny.  On the other hand, fighting in a real relationship typically isn't.  In fact, surveys have shown that 56 percent of divorced couples said that too much fighting lead to their divorce.  However, there are techniques to fighting that can draw couples closer together instead of pulling them apart.  These techniques can also help couples solve problems instead of creating bigger ones and show couples how to work like a team instead of adversaries.

Would you and your spouse like to learn the techniques of fighting?  Then join us for "Fight Night" with Les and Leslie Parrott on Saturday, September 19 from 7:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.  They'll cover topics like: bridging the gender gap, the four red flags of conflict, the secret to keeping a cool head and a warm heart, and how 10 minutes out of your week will diminish conflict.  Learn about all of that and more in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
